Adventure Tourism

Adventure tourism is a type of niche tourism involving exploration or travel to remote areas, where the traveller should expect the unexpected. Adventure tourism is rapidly growing in popularity as tourists seek unusual holidays, different from the typical beach vacation. Mountaineering expeditions, trekking, bungee jumping, rafting and rock climbing are frequently cited as an examples of adventure tourism.

The term mountaineering describes the sport of mountain climbing, including ski mountaineering. Hiking in the mountains can also be a simple form of mountaineering when it involves scrambling, or short stretches of the more basic grades of rock climbing, as well as crossing glaciers. Kenya is endowed with Africa’s second highest mountain, Mount Kenya with several routes all varying in intensity. We also border the highest free standing mountain in the World, Mount Kilimanjaro which is also Africa’s highest. Other mountains and hills exist awaiting for your exploration. We organize with expert and experienced mountaineering experts. There are numerous and well equipped base camps and overall high safety standards.

Kenya has large water bodies ideal for water adventure including fishing in Africa’s largest lake, Victoria located in the Western part of the country. We work closely with expert providers of such services who are certified and well equipped. Safety standards are our highest priority in the quest to provide you with an unforgettable experience.

Some of the popular activities include Diving, Kite Surfing, White Water Rafting and Big Game Fishing.

Kenya is becoming increasingly popular as a dive destination. Kenya has another great wilderness area hid beneath the surface of the Indian Ocean, a wilderness just as rich, diverse and ripe for exploration as any of our game parks. The calm turquoise waters of our beaches lie in the protective shelter of reef after reef, home to a myriad bounty of sealife. Diving in Kenya is generally good all year round, although visibility lessens during July and August due to silting and high seas. The weather is consistently warm and sunny, with excellent balmy water temperature that makes for ideal dive conditions. From unexplored sites to easily accessible undersea gardens of coral, schools of sharks to breaching whales, friendly dolphins to endangered turtles, incredible caves to mysterious wrecks, a Kenyan scuba safari gives you the whole wild world- underwater.

The Trade Winds of the Kenya coast have brought the world to our shores for centuries. Now they are attracting devotees of the ocean’s latest thrilling action sport- Kite surfing. Perfect wind conditions, beautiful tropical beaches and ready access to Kenya’s world famous game parks make this the most exciting new destination for ocean borne adventure.

The waters of the Indian Ocean are an adventurer’s playground. The coast of Kenya has a well deserved reputation for big game fishing and has attracted fishing devotees such as Ernest Hemingway, drawn by the promise of world-class fishing.

One of Kenya’s best adventure safaris is a rafting expedition along the Ewaso N’giro and Tana rivers. The white water rafting trips can last between three and eight days or make for the perfect day trip out of Nairobi. Full equipment and expert guides are available for this ultimate adventure. Both rivers wind their way through spectacular white water, with up to 30 kms of nonstop Class II, III and IV rapids in some places, and separate stretches of demanding Class V water.

Other adventure safaris in Kenya include horse-back riding, trekking, hiking, slum tourism, rock climbing, balloon adventures, as well as night-time game drives. All this can be organized by our dedicated team at Lindberg safaris. Remember, whatever is your fancy, we have it all covered!
